As a Palestinian who was never allowed to return to my ancestral home, my relationship to land has always been metaphysical rather than physical. Displacement shaped my understanding of belonging not as something fixed, but as something created.

During my time in London, and now Barcelona, I realized that belonging can exist beyond geography.
It can live in the objects we create, the people we meet, and the creative endeavors we begin.

A friend’s house can hold my laughter.
A ceramic studio can house my creativity.
A lover’s house can hold my inspiration.

Through Plazuli, I am interested in how artists and designers construct their own sense of home especially when traditional ideas of place, nation, or permanence are disrupted.

This Open Call invites artists and designers to reflect on houses as emotional, symbolic, or imagined spaces, and on the mediums they use to create a sense of belonging.
