UTTU’s Death

Uttu’s Death marks a new mutation in UTTU, Sanad Khoury’s ongoing exploration of the relationship between the human body and the inanimate object. Shedding its ceramic skin, the creature takes shape in steel, with an exposed structure and perforated mesh carrying traces of textile and weaving into its new body. Light passes through this porous surface, revealing what might once have been concealed. As an alter ego, UTTU changes alongside its maker, giving physical form to the vulnerability of leaving a familiar self behind before knowing what comes next. Here, death becomes a moment of shedding within a lifelong process of transformation.
